One School One Book
Building communities through reading is a powerful thing. This year we will be reading four books school-wide, one each quarter. Students that read the selected book and write a review of the book in Destiny will be entered in a prize drawing. All books are available as an ebook through Destiny.
1st Quarter -- The Silver Child by Cliff McNish. Winners for 1st quarter were: Colton Gardner, Maleah Collins, Caitlyn Hetrick, and Landon Langer.
2nd Quarter -- Big Top Burning: The True Story of an Arsonist, a Missing Girl, and The Greatest Show on Earth by Laura A. Woollett. Winners for 2nd quarter were: Reese Heebink, Baylee Jewell, Nic Harney, and Jenna Wehausen.
3rd Quarter -- The Way by Joseph Bruchac (name pronunciation)
Summary - In his dreams, Cody LeBeau is a ninja who stops terrorist attacks on his school. In real life, he says, "There's nothing different or special about me at all." Then one day Cody's mysterious uncle John arrives. Uncle John is a martial-arts fighter, and when he says he will train Cody in "The Way," Cody expects to learn martial arts. Instead Cody discovers that "The Way" is a different set of skills-skills that might just help him stop an attack after all.
