In order to ensure a safe and caring climate for all middle schoolers, the administration and staff have implemented a Character Development program utilized during our CREW Time or advisory time held each day.
It is our mission to accomplish the following goals through support and integration of a Character Education throughout the curriculum:
Þ Create a civil and caring environment that makes effective teaching and learning possible.
Þ Reduce negative student behavior such as violence (bullying, cyberbullying,) substance abuse, and disrespect of teachers, parents and peers.
Þ Improve academic performance.
Þ Prepare young adolescents to be responsible citizens and productive members of society.
We are utilizing a program called Project Wisdom. Project Wisdom combines and morning announcement, lesson plan for Crew Time and plans for implementing a specific trait into academic curriculum. Announcements and character traits are linked not only with curriculum, but with the school’s student of the month program highlighting the example of students who exhibit the character traits of responsibility, gratitude, empathy and caring, respect, honesty, perseverance, courage, and leadership and good example.
