School to Career/Work Release Mandatory Meeting: There will be a mandatory meeting for all students scheduled for school to career/work experience on Wednesday, August 21st at Noon or 7:00p.m. at the high school in room 117.  We will go over the required paperwork which will need to be completed and returned prior to school starting on 29th so it is important that students attend one of the two meetings.  Parents are also encouraged to attend. Congratulations to the FFA Trap Team! They placed 14th overall out of more than 200 teams in the National High School Clay Target tournament held this past week in Mason, Michigan. All five members competed individually as well, with three advancing to those finals. This year’s team included Abby Boettcher, Kelton Rozeboom, John Miles, Ethan Boettcher, and Brock Thorsen. All were invited to compete based off of their spring season averages. The team wishes to thank all of their coaches and supporters who helped and encouraged them this season!

Kaitlyn Holmgren represented Wisconsin at Global Youth Institute held in conjunction with the World Food Prize this past weekend. She and approximately 150 other youth from across the U.S. and abroad heard from global leaders on the critical need to combat the growing hunger problem around the world. In addition, Holmgren is eligible to apply for research based internships and scholarships. In order to be eligible Holmgren was required to write and present a paper on a malnutrition issue. Cross country will not as our broadcaster isn’t as fast as our students! Our goal as always will be to bring you all playoff games. All sports will be streamed on YouTube Live via the SCC YouTube channel available at youtube.com/stcroixcentralschooldistrict . Streams should show up near the top of the channel page. There may be some growing pains as we figure out how to best bring the streams to YouTube. Go subscribe now so you can be notified when a stream is upcoming! Student Game Workers Needed: We are looking for students to work games for the middle school, C team and JV levels for the 2018-19 sports season. Workers are needed to run the clock and do the book for volleyball and basketball games, run the chains for football and assist with various events for cross country and track. The hourly pay rate is $10.50 for high school level games and $7.25 for middle school games. You must be at least 14 years old to work. We are very proud of our seven members of the FFA Trap Team for qualifying for the first ever National Trap Team Competition, to be held in mid-July, in Mason, Michigan!
