7th Grade ART !

Welcome to Block 4

Students are required to bring a sketchbook and a pack of #2 pencils

Monday and Tuesday- GIMP in Blue lab

7th grade artists will begin to explore the software program GIMP every Monday and Tuesday. GIMP is used to layer and manipulate images to create computer art. Students will use this new found knowledge to create an artwork of their own.

Wednesday- Friday

Students will also begin thier exploration of the Principles of Art and Design.  This week students will be learning about about Balance and Symmetry.

When the 7th grade students are not in the Blue lab, they will be learning about why artists through history have continually gone back to making self portraits. After looking at many famous self portraits, the students will be making a Pop Art type portrait of themselves in Monochromatic colors. They will learn to use a grid to enlarge a picture and how to mix tints and shades of one color.

All students are required to bring in a sketchbook and a pack of #2 pencils the first week of art.
